I absolutely agree its easier to escape heat or cold here in AZ, I never disputed that. I just disagree when people say you cant escape cold up north, which is untrue. Granted the temp differences might not be as extreme as in AZ, but theres a big difference between TN and Chicagoland area in winter. They can get into the 70s in winter at times, when Chicago might be in the teens. I know because I did that once in February. It was almost 0 with the windchill in Chicago, and when we arrived in Clarksville, TN, it was in the upper 60s. It was a great getaway. But yes, its much easier to "get away" from weather here in AZ, I would never disagree with that.

You also drove for 7 hours to get there. So your whole point is that travel exists? OK, got it. Of course you CAN go anywhere. We're discussing the ease of doing so.

I NEVER said I could escape the cold in a 200-mile radius. I would like you to read my posts and show me where I said that. Ill wait.

For. The. Last. Time... I said we could drive a few hours to escape the cold, thats it. I never said anything about driving 2 hours to get warm in the Midwest, and I never said anything about a 200 mile radius!

And its pretty obvious you know nothing about the Midwestern weather. The jet stream would erupt north several times in winter, especially in southern IL and KY/TN, shooting temps up into the 60s and 70s. More than once we left Chicagoland with temps below freezing and arrived in TN 4 hours later with temps anywhere from 45-70, depending on the weather. There was even an instance where we left northern IL and it was 0 with wind chill, and 60 in Clarksville, TN. Granted 60 degrees was a bit above normal for TN, but youre talking a 60-degree difference in temps in just a short 3-5 hour drive, depending.

It was 7 hours deep into TN. If we stopped at Clarksville, which we often did (family was stationed there in the army), it was only about 4 hour drive. And it was significantly warmer there than Chicagoland, sometimes 60 degrees warmer, depending on the weather.

Right here: "I said we could drive a few hours to escape the cold". How many miles can you cover in a few hours? Hint, it's about 200 on a good day.

You would also need to travel at an average of 95 mph to arrive at the TN state line from Chicago in 4 hours. Impossible.

Again, of course you can travel from anywhere to anywhere. That's not the point that anyone is arguing. What you cannot do is escape the cold of northern states with relative ease unless you consider a 7 hour drive or a 2 hour flight easy. We in Phoenix can escape our extreme weather by taking a quick day trip.

Our weathers so nice right now we are bored enough to sit on here and talk about others terrible winters.
Otherwise we'd be shoveling our drive.
But, I did pick a few weeds today.

OK cmon guys.. admit it, how many of us who came from these climates miss seeing the snow? Not necessarily cleaning it but being snowed in? I sort of miss it I bet if I went back, though, I'd miss it for 30 min before wanting the warm sun again.

Nope. Never want to see it again.
