Hi!

I am 21 and just got a teaching job in Queen Creek, AZ. I will be moving to AZ from Illinois this summer.

The question:

Where do I live!
I am pretty liberal, enjoy going to clubs/bars, hiking, running, museums, etc...
I am moving there with my boyfriend--we'd like to live somewhere fun, safe, and YOUNG.

Is there ANYWHERE we could live under an hour away from Queen Creek?

Please help!!!
Thank you!!

I think Chandler is close enough and lively enough, but more expensive than many areas. Some bargains out there though. The only nightlife I know of here is Tempe, Scottsdale, spots in Phoenix, and Chandler to a lesser degree. Lots of hiking, but be prepared to drive EVERYWHERE you need to go.

FYI, Tempe has ASU and is therefore a younger crowd.

Thumbs up living near Queen Creek

I would suggest looking in the city of queen creek if youre gonna be working out there anyways. You wont have to worry about gas prices! With gas bein over $4/Gallon, an a long commute if ya live out if the city. It might be something to consider. If that's not enough to persuade you, the great housing prices in queen creek are a steal!! Are you lplanning to stay long term? If so I would look into snagging one of these "bank owned properties" that are sold below market value, and with the housing market in the drain right now, you'll find a deal that you wouldnt normally be able to find! I would look in the following cities that are close to queen creek at rentals or to buy : queen creek, florence, coolidge. Check it out! You may find something you cant pass up! If you are interested in buying a home call the banks in Queen Creek (Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Chase, Desert Schools CU). Good Luck w your future in AZ.

Queen Creek does not offer much in the way of night life. However, if you move to far away from Queen Creek you will find it difficult to get to and from the area as most roadways are still under contruction. South Gilbert or Chandler may be an option for and you will likely be going opposite of rush hour traffic each way. These two cities offer more entertainment options, however the popular night life spots are in Tempe & Scottsdale.

With the way costs are these days in the states....Live close to work and commute/spend little 5 days a week. Dont live somewhere just to "go out" then commute 2 or more hours a day...bad financial juju.

If you can afford the gas or drive a very fuel-efficient vehicle, Tempe or Chandler makes sense. You'd be commuting in the opposite direction of heavy traffic. Financially, though, living near work makes more sense. I just wouldn't recommend Queen Creek for a liberal 21-year-old. Unfortunately, there is zero public transit to and from Queen Creek, so the decision has to be based on the cost of driving.
