I've been running the AC for months. I like comfort.

if security allows, open your windows and/or doors at night until morning....free air conditioning!.....you'll be buried under the blankets by morning.....

I haven't had my heat or AC on for many weeks...

I have my thermostat set to 77 currently, if the inside temp goes to 78, it comes on. I open windows in the AM but generally close them by 10 as it warms up. I can afford the AC and I like a certain temperature in my house so I'm not gonna fight it and try to save a few bucks.

Been tempted but absolutely refuse to turn the thing on in March. Would have turned on the swamp cooler if we had one.

Why do you refuse? I'm really trying to comprehend the idea of the months things vs the temp thing. AC is related to how hot it's outside, not what month it is in my head.

That's what we do. We leave our windows/doors closed in the day and the house temp reaches 78, even with the temps in the mid 90's we've had the last few days. That's not warm/uncomfortable at all for us. At night, we open the windows and let in the cool air. Feels great and we don't feel boxed in to a home with all the windows shut.

I wish Normally I don't post on out of state threads, but this one got me curious. I'm in swampy Houston, TX, and we've already had to run the A/C three times. Numerical temps don't get as high as AZ usually, but the super high humidity does us in every time.

I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I can admit that in my situation I have yet to crank up the A/C for purely economic reasons. I'm the sole income earner in my household and supporting a family of 6 on just under $40k/year. If I can save some money by doing something as simple as using ceiling fans, keeping the doors and windows open 24/7 and sleeping without a blanket then I'm all for it.

Of course I have nothing against those who choose to spend more to feel a little bit more comfortable, I'd probably do the same if my financial situation was different... And of course I'll bite the buck and turn on the A/C when it starts to get uncomfortable for the fam, but so far we've been fine
