We have a really nice rose bush that gives awesome blooms, but lately, I have seen the leaves being eaten by something.
Tried aphid powder, spreading ash near the base, even putting garlic near the roots .. etc..nothing seems to stop
Can anyone throw some light on what is causing this?

I had the same issue on one of my rose shrubs and chard in the garden. That doesn't look like an aphid issue. You have some type of worm eating your leaves.

I use bt as I like to stay organic.

I buy a concentrated mix and mix it with water in a small 32 oz spray bottle and spray it on the leaves every few weeks. If it rains, I believe it washes it off so you just reapply it. You can buy it at a nursery/garden center or online of course. I think I bought it at Lowe's once.

That's from leafcutter bees. Generally harmless, beneficial pollinator.

Interesting to learn. Looking at our rose leaves, I see how neat the munching the leaf cutter bee(s) did in a neat "C" shape vs our chard that has more random holes munched out of them by the caterpillars.

It's as said above leaf cutter bees and they've been active for at least the past 2 months. At least on my roses they have. They also attack 'bougainvilla' leaves too.
These bees are beneficial to our food crops and no pesticides should ever be used. It's only cosmetic damage and does not effect the blooming of the roses.

Thanks, all. So, looks like leaf cutters are the answer! I carefully observed the bush and there are no worms/aphids. Guess I will just leave it as is for now
