I'm headed to Tempe later this month for a conference/convention. I am looking for recommendations as to good places to eat in Tempe, preferably within walking distance of the Mill Avenue district.

Thanks in advance for your help.

If you like beer, go to World of Beer and get a German Pretzel

All of the above, plus the following:

Postino -- lively wine bar with bruschetta, salad, & sandwiches
Orange Table -- breakfast
Phoenicia -- Middle Eastern
Royal Coffee Bar -- coffee, tea, pastry
Med Fresh -- Turkish
Umami -- ramen
Rula Bula -- Irish pub
Delice Bistro -- soups, salads, sandwiches, & pastry
Desert Roots Kitchen -- all-vegetarian lunch place
Chuck Box -- old-school hamburger joint (the exact opposite of Desert Roots)
Restaurant Mexico -- classic place specializing in the food of the Mexican state of Jalisco
Paletas Betty -- Mexican popsicles with seasonal flavors
Handlebar -- brats and craft beer

Depends on what your tastes are. The Mill Avenue District has plenty of choices for places to eat: everything from the standard burger & fries places to international cuisine. I like a little of everything, but one of my favorites is Japanese/sushi type of places, and Ra Sushi on Mill is one place I recommend. For an old fashioned western type of burger joint, go to Chuckbox, which is a few blocks east of Mill on University.

Just got back from Tempe this weekend, I agree with DetroitN8V as to La Bocca. I ate there twice and enjoyed it both times.

There is always something new to try in the Mill district.

Sparky's has delicious ice cream and it doesn't have that chainstore taste.

Thai Basil on University is a good inexpensive place if you're into that kind of food.

For a good tucked away coffeehouse there is Cartel which is kind of industrial-looking but they serve some great lattes.
