The funny part about that (in more of an odd way, I suppose..not to say I was laughing at it) is that I remember we barely got a fraction of that rain in the north valley, while I10 became that river...how it can be an absolute downpour in one spot, and dry as a bone less than a mile away is one of those things that I don't think I'll ever really get used to despite living here for nearly a decade.

Everything is Relative! We would collapse in the valley if we got more than 2-3 inches in a day.
But your definition is the correct one.

I was in some of these storms
Bali:

Or Kauai - when they got almost 10 inches of rain in 24 hours (Mother's Day 2011)
I believe this was the year they got almost four FEET over one week.

We got between 3-7 inches of rain in much less than 24 hours in the Valley on September 8th of last year. We didn't collapse. Sure, there was scattered flooding, but life in the Valley didn't grind to halt.

Got some good rain in Scottsdale last night, along with lots of lightning and decent wind. Now its bone dry outside, no puddles, just nasty humidity.

Ain't that always the way, though?

Unfortunately. I love the lightning and dust storms, but the temps and humidity and bugs make me always dread this time of year.

With a 60 degree dewpoint ,which has a lot more to do with the "humid feeling " in a given place absolutely.
It's actually very gulf coast like. Except at least New Orleans, Mobile and Gulfport are about 90 instead of 105-110.

Current Dewpoint in Gulfport is 70 degrees in the mid 80's temperatures and it's raining there LOL.

It's godawful. The south with 20 extra degrees on the temp gauge. Well worth it if we get a good storm though .

FYI, weather reports stated 55% humidity yesterday morning, with a mid-60 degree dewpoint. Thats extremely sticky and uncomfortable.

You should leave the weather talk to those that understand the difference between humidity percentages and dewpoint levels.

Do all the threads that have something to do with weather have to end up discussing the same thing? This is sounding just like the "If Phoenix is so hot" thread....

Meh...just the same as considering a move to Phoenix/will be moving to Phoenix, and obviously I haven't done even the slightest bit of research beforehand because I will asking the same damn questions as the 500 people before me threads...

There's a LOT of threads I just pass right over based on title anymore because of stuff like this.
