Don't throw away your coat! After one summer here you'll notice that even valley winters will be pretty chilly at night, and if you take an overnight trip to somewhere like Sedona, Flagstaff, or Prescott in the winter you'll for sure want a coat!! I use my coat in Phoenix every winter still and every time we head to the north country from roughly October - March/April.

Welcome to the valley!!!

In the older homes there are basements. You don't see them much anymore since builders are more concerned with how fast, cheap, and the tiniest lot they can use.

Maybe a little jealous of the weather, just spent a week back home in So Cal in 72 degree weather and cold ocean water and it was nice. NOT jealous about you working on a Saturday LOL. fwiw there are plenty of basement homes in the Phoenix area and I lived in one in South Chandler before the house I am in now. They are all over the South Chandler area, I can think of more than a dozen newer subdivisions with basement homes. I ran my business out of my basement and frankly it's nice to have a view of the back yard/pool rather than the window wells. the utilities were low however, never even $500/mo for 4000 square feet at the time.

I'm jealous when I see other parts of the country having some good rainstorms with cooler weather while we roast, but that's only four months out of the year.

During the rest of the year many people are envious of Phoenix while they shovel show, scrape ice, and deal with constant sub-freezing weather.

It's a tradeoff.

Yep. Jealous for about 2 min. Til I start sipping on a Jamocha Shake or ice cold tea and realize I wouldn't want either in the cold.

People say "oh, if you want to see snow you can just drive up to Flagstaff!"

My answer is "Why in the world would I want to do that?"

No coat for me. A hoodie is the heaviest coat I ever want to wear again!

We're moving down in August from Wisconsin. We'll be sure to bring our flame retardant suits...

Just kidding (sort of).

I lived in Phoenix for a few years in the 80s and remember trying to bake a roll of Pillsbury cookies in my car. It didn't quite work, but it did make the car smell nice.

That's an old real estate trick: baking cookies or bread during an open house.
