I haven't partied in phoenix for ages and i noticed many of the places i used to frequent have since closed. I will be staying in south phoenix and prefer something closer in tempe or downtown. what are my options? looking for a cool spot for drinks and people watching. either loung atmosphere or bar would be fine. Just want to know whats happening on a thursday nt. 25-25 crowd would be ideal.

I live in South Phoenix. Not sure where you're staying but if you're looking for something close there's a nice sports bar on 32nd St and Baseline called Gallaghers. Usually a fair amount of people there for happy hour Thursday evenings and they might still do team trivia then karaoke which is good people watching.

For a bit more interesting atmosphere and people watching there's a dive bar on Dobbins just west of Central called the Silver Pony. It's a cash only, no food dive that can get pretty fun.

My go to bar right now in Tempe is Time Out Lounge on the NE corner of Mill and Southern. It's a small dive...no food but you can bring some in. Lots of regulars and everyone is very friendly. Some characters there too. In the same plaza there's Monkey Pants which is another sports/dive bar...food is decent.

In case that crowd fails you, there's always the 36 through 96 crowd.
