I am considering a move to Queen Creek from Yuma. The housing is a bargain in Queen Creek, and I want to live closer to a metro area than Yuma. I am wondering if anyone can tell me if this would be a good place for a mid 30s, single male? I have found Yuma to be the pits! (lack of single women, marine base). Is QC close enough to get to areas where there are things to do/meet other singles? It is so cheap along the Hunt hwy that I have got to consider buying there. I am self-employed, so commute to work is not an issue. Any input would be appreciated.

Default Queen Creek

Hello,

Queen Creek is primarily a bedroom community for families. The commercial development has no where near caught up with the housing that was built so they barely have anywhere to shop, let alone any nightlife.

If you are planning on staying for at least 4 years, housing in QC is a bargain because it is basically a distressed community. Foreclosures, lender-owned properties and short sales abound. Most of that inventory will have to be bought up before we see any increase in housing values. I know people in QC that can't give away their houses.

I would recommend moving closer to town with easier access to downtown, Scottsdale and Tempe if a social life is a big concern for you. In this market you can still find homes that fit your budget and lifestyle criteria at VERY attractive prices.

I hope this helps.

Default Yuma vs Queen Creek

I've lived in both Yuma and QC, so I have some opinions about your question. I was assigned to Yuma for 3 years and I gotta tell you, I had no problem meeting nice women. I also never heard anyone complain about it either. Is it possible you were maybe not using the right approach? Some women don't respond well if you appear "pushy" or "desperate". You might try modifying your behavior and see if it helps. If you have any female friends, you could ask them if you seem abrasive. Also there are several books available that might be of help. I now live in QC and have met many wonderful women here, too. I'm afraid you may find the same problem in QC. I hope these tips help.

That is funny! It's nice to have friends who like to mess around.

Yes, renting is a great idea. You can explore all the areas and see where you fit best.

Default Single life?

Well that doesn't give this single 30 something woman any hope hu? I just bought land and will be building very soon. But then again I didn't want to be in the big city either. I know work will be a drive but I don't mine. I just hope the single life isn't that bad.

Talking if you're single, move to phoenix, scottsdale or tempe

queen creek is made for families. what are you gonna do when you meet that special one-night jumpoff at a scottsdale club? you're gonna drive all the way to queen creek to get some cutty? she'll be asleep by the time you get to mesa!

if you're single, you should get a condo in central Phoenix, the biltmore area or scottsdale. i lived in all those places during the height of my bachelor days and trust me, it made things much easier for my love life!

if you want to find the most affordable homes in phoenix, try the south phoenix/laveen area along baseline road between 27th ave and 51st avenue. you can buy a new home from the high 100s! why rent when you can buy?

As long as you don't dance, you can go to San Tan Flats. Other than that...the River Bottom Saloon, or Jack-in-the-Box? Not too many choices...yet!

You people have no imagination! I know there's a Fry's and a Safeway in QC on Hunt Hwy. Good place to meet women, especially if you can "borrow" a friend or relative's baby and and even more so on certain holidays. Standing in the checkout the day before Thanksgiving with a sad look on your face, holding the 'bait-baby', your turkey TV dinner and the child's jar Gerber turkey goo will bring out the "need to nurture" in at least some women. Obviously at some point you'll have to explain away the baby that isn't yours, but it's still good for an ice-breaker.

Is there a Petsmart down there yet? If so, get a cute LITTLE dog. Take it shopping with you. OFTEN. Sooner or later... Trust me, it works! I was happily married (or so I thought at the time) in both of these scenarios and didn't go past the friendly conversation stage, but I had a lot of opportunities. Especially with my son, who had this habit of reaching for any woman's breasts and saying, "Ta-ta"!

You are so right...the produce section is usually a pretty good place to meet people. Knowing how to tell if a melon is ripe is a great skill to have.
