I was in Phoenix several years ago with the American Legion Legacy run. I and several hundred others came from VA, IN, PA and other eastern cities. We ended our trip at a post in Tempe. It was a 2000 mile bike ride and we loved it.

I am wondering is the American Legion very much a part of the social fabric in the area? As I travel through the country I notice it is more a factor in small areas than in larger ones. What about other veterans organizations like VFW and DAV?

Thanks

I'm a life member of the American Legion, VFW and DAV and it is definitely not a big part of the social fabric here like it is in smaller communities I've lived in over the years. Our post has a good turnout of older vets but you never hear about the AL, VFW, or DAV outside of post activities.

That said, you can make it a large part of your life if that is your thing but you're definitely not going to be running into lots of people each day that are members or know about the goings on of the VSO's.

Thank you for your answer. I am also a life member of AL and DAV. Am also an active rider. I look forward to meeting other vets and getting active in AL and ALR.
