LBTRS haha yes XD
I had the same anxiety when I moved here, particularly because I moved here in the dead of summer, I worked from home, and had no idea how badly I was going to get hit by the A/C.

No, you can't do managed payments if you are a new APS customer for 1 year while you establish a history.

I did choose the Time of Use plan that had me at a much higher charge between 12pm and 7pm. After monitoring my monthly bills, it does show as the cheapest plan, but the difference between that and the Standard Plan I believe is around $8 a month. Savings are savings, but I'm not blowing anything out of the water by using this plan.

My apartment is around 1100 sq ft, second floor, north facing. Without ceiling fans, I never would have survived, but from 12pm - 7pm, I kept the A/C around 80-82 and made sure I never did anything more than work and use the microwave during the peak times. My highest bill, during the worst of the three weeks of 118 heat, was just under $200.

If you are fine with being cautious about when you do everything (laundry, showering if you have an electric water heater, heavy cooking all needs to be done after 7 pm), then you can save some money by changing plans; however, in an 800 sq ft apartment, living alone, your savings are going to be probably no more than $10 a month.

Most of the time, I'm fine with it, but there are days when I resent having to watch the clock to start the laundry.

They only let you change one per year, so what I would do is monitor your bill for the next two-three months. They have a tool on their web site that shows you a comparison as to what your bill would be on each plan. That's where I see that my savings are around $8 per month on the Time plan. That may help you better determine the best plan.

"Light bill" made me laugh too. I've never heard that before. Lights are the least of your worries! As long as you can monitor it somewhat, a time of use plan is going to be your best bet.
