If the SHTF? Depends.

If the electric grid goes down, I think everyone would be in trouble. To be sure, there would be no air conditioning, but you would have bigger problems than that. Most big cities have only a few days of food on hand. And how would the gas pumps work? Or the ATM machines?

If you're just thinking about civil disturbances/rioting, etc., then it would make sense to be as far away from the city as possible.

So, what you're looking for is an all-anglo, non-Mormon place to hide.
Please re-consider your move to anywhere remotely close to the state of AZ.
There are some folks you might find simpatico who have taken over a wildlife refuge in Oregon recently.
No, hold on, the Bundys are LDS too. Scratch that.

Maybe pre-war Germany. Fire up your time machine.

I'd like to live somewhere that we can hold tight if things get tough, and where we might find neighbors who we could work with to achieve the same. We want to avoid "diverse" neighborhoods, as well as Mormon enclaves.

So far, we're thinking either Ahwatukee or North Scottsdale areas. We like that Ahwatukee is quiet ("World's Largest Cul-de-Sac") and that it borders on what is not much more than vacant land. We do, however, prefer the upscale neighborhoods and less suburban feel that some of Scottsdale offers.

Would either of these places be a decent place to be in stormy times? If not, I'd love to hear your reasoned thoughts on where we should focus our search.
OP, what makes you think "suburban", "rich", "white", and "non-Mormon" are particularly useful traits for long term survival in the middle of a desert?

Wasn't there a post about how Arizona is one of the top states liberals are moving to or something? Perhaps a deterrent for OP? Pinal County seems to have a lot of preppers from what I can tell.

Actually if someone is posting a specific question using a not so common acronym, it would be helpful to everyone on the thread if that was explained clearly here.
