a little smaller than a Robin, built about the same. It was black with a very dark green chest and what looked like one big vibrant white feather in the middle of it's tailfeathers and 1 vibrant white feather on each wing.

Not from this state so i don't know the birds. Had never seen those white feathers before. Reminded me of Spike and his mohawk from gremlins...

Nice website! Thanks for sharing.

I live in Tempe, and I'm not sure what you saw. The dark green chest is what's throwing me off. Not too many colorful robin-sized birds around here.

I saw it again this morning. There were others like it but smaller, everything the same except he white feathers.

Also...it's bigger than I thought, like a XXL full size Robin or a medium size pigeon. Tailfeathers are pretty long as well....

Curious as to what it is!
There is a Crested Kingfisher flying around my neck of the woods.

Those are cool. Nice find!

What surprised me one day while hiking I saw a pair of lovebirds go flying by and I thought to myself "wow, someone's gonna be upset that they left the cage open." Then I saw an article about an established wild population of lovebirds in Phoenix. I had no idea!
