Not really. At least it's not cold and foggy like Sacramento. Of all 4 cities we looked at, Phoenix had the warmest winters.
As a side note----
Please excuse the small font in my other post. I tried to copy it from a Word doc but the size was all messed up.

Our winters are usually delightful, but there are a couple of weeks between the end of January where it gets close to freezing at times.

Then the warm weather sets in for about a week or so and everyone thinks we're done with winter.

Until another cold spell or rainy spell moves in then you really hear people complain.

Downtown Tempe is a 15 minute UBER ride when I meet up with friends for drinks. Hiking/biking/gyms are all within a couple of miles. I work ten minutes away from my house. RARELY do I ever drive more than 30 minutes to go anywhere. I think my doctor's office is 25 minutes away and I only have to drive that every six months.

Most people that first move here seem to live out on the edge of town because you can get more bang for your buck in terms of housing but pay the price by having to drive to everything.
This pretty much sums up my experience. I live in Central Phoenix, and the most time I spend in the car for necessities is 15 minutes. I may drive 20 minutes to go out to eat, but it's with a destination in mind.

When I lived in Ahwatukee, I rarely had to drive even 15 minutes to get anything. When I lived in North Scottsdale, I rarely had to drive 15 minutes to get anything (except to get to the airport). I think that you need to consider where you live. Some places are very nice, but comparatively remote, even though they are part of the metropolitan area. Tempe, Chandler, Phoenix, and other areas are similarly convenient. It just depends where you are, and what you need.

And I find just the opposite. I'm within 10-20 min of pretty much everything I need and want to do. You must live in a more remote area?

lol WTH do people expect when they move to an area that is this huge? I live in the far E Valley and what someone else said is right. I hate the long drives to get nearly anywhere but my doctors are close and I work from home so thank GOD I don't have a commute every day like I used to the first year I moved here. I sometimes have to go to meetings in central Phx which is about a 35 to 45 minute drive MAYBE once or twice a month and I schedule those between 10 am and 3 pm. I will NOT drive in traffic before 10 am and I have to be back on the road to home by 3 no exceptions. It's my business that I run so my rules lol
On the weekends who cares? If I want to go to Peoria I will or North Scottsdale or wherever I want to go to if I have a party or concert or something to go to.
Every time I go "home" to visit I laugh at myself because I leave the hotel an hour before I am meeting my friends for dinner and then I end up getting their 45 minutes early. I am so used to giving myself an hour to get someplace that I forget my old hometown takes 15 minutes TOPS to go from edge of one side of town to the other.

No arguments here.
We knew how big Phoenix is, but we did our research and picked what we thought was a good centralized area to live because we didn't want the long commutes to everything.
All I'm saying is we'd like it better if so much driving wasn't needed for errands or entertainment.

As people have already said, you live in an area where there is plenty of shopping and entertainment within a reasonable driving distance. Yes, entertainment venues like the Cardinals stadium are a long drive for a lot of people. As far as "errands", the same applies-- I can't imagine you have to drive far for whatever "errands". With respect to this specialist doctor who is so far away, you can't find one of that specialty closer (I don't know what specialty we are talking about, but odds are you can) and you need to see them that often, then you would have to decide whether that merits a move.

Do some more exploring nearby, as was suggested. Use Yelp and other sources to find what you need in terms of "errands" in the area. I think you will feel better about where you are once you explore the area. If the job search works out so that your commute is reasonable or you can use public transit, that will help too. Good luck!

It's not needed. What can't you find in your general area?
