Man, now I want to go to Honey Moon Bakery. Such a wonderful find.

There are a couple of other bakeries in the Tempe area I love.

One is Arai Pastry which is next to the Japanese market on Priest and University in Tempe. A Japanese pastry chef owns the place. They have an interesting combination of Asian, French, and hybrid deserts and breads. If you are looking for a nice light, beautifully crafted desert or something inventive and interesting it is a good place to check out.

I also am so glad that Great Harvest Bread Company is located in Tempe in the only Phoenix metro location. It is part of a small nationwide chain, but every location I've been to manages to feel "local". They mill their own flour every day and I think that is what makes their bread so awesome. If you are looking for wonderfully hearty breads they are definitely the place to stop. Heck, it is worth it to just pop in and get a free slice of warm bread to try.

Good luck on your search for Volcano Brownies!

In general, not enough decent cheap bakeries around, and certainly not enough brownies.
