Any suggestions for a Christian preschool in the Peoria/Glendale or surrounding areas? This is for my 3 year old. Full time M-F.

OP, when I think of Christian schools and the West Valley, the first thing that comes to mind is Northwest Christian in Peoria. If I lived in the West Valley it would certainly be on my short list. It offers preschool through 12th grade I believe. LINK.

Sure, if you visit any preschool for a day, you'll be amazed at how they learn all sorts of things; if you can teach a three or four year old the basics about the rainforest or how clouds work, why can't you teach them that Jesus loves them? It's basic, child-focused instruction, like anything in preschool, but that doesn't mean they can't learn some basics about any topic, from science to math to reading and writing to religion.

When a preschool-age kid goes to the children's ministry at my church, they learn some understandable stories and concepts, do some arts and crafts, play on the playground, have a snack. They have fun and it helps them learn the basics. There are plenty of stories in the Bible that can be told in such a way that young children understand them.

I know I've often heard people who say, oh you're just indoctrinating them, you're brainwashing them. I don't think that's accurate or fair and I don't think it applies to parents who choose to send their children to a house of worship and/or to a religious school, any more than it is for parents who choose to send their children to a secular school and/or don't send them to a house of worship.

I think anyone who's a parent knows that you can't control what your child grows up to believe inside their heart, and knows just how independent each person's mind is ... every child is different and you can raise ten kids the exact same way and have ten completely different outcomes. Similarly, you can raise kids in public schools with a strong religious life, and you can raise kids who go to religious schools to have a basically nonreligious life. I think we've all met plenty of kids who went to religious schools who didn't buy into it and just basically ignored the religious component of their instruction; similarly I imagine we've all met plenty of people such as myself who went to public schools but believe in God all the same.

All you can do is love your kids, set a good, involved example, teach them what you believe is important, and prepare them to make their own decisions. Everyone must not only choose their own path in life, but be saved by faith alone, and there is no amount of Christian education that can force someone to accept Jesus Christ in their heart, with sincerity, unless they themselves truly believe in Him.

I think the OP is absolutely brilliant in her understanding of the need to plug her child into the lifeblood of our creator. Very smart. " Train up a child in the way of...."

I can recommend Joy Christian School, at 75th Ave and the 101. Great preschool program and teachers.
