I've been hearing about all of the controversy with TSA wait times so far this summer. Articles I've read have all discussed issues in Chicago and the east coast. How has Sky Harbor been as of late?

Flying to Newark on June 2 at 8:30am. Curious if I should go earlier than normal. I typically leave 2 hours before my flight. I pre-print my boarding pass and don't check luggage but I do opt out of the body scan.

The last time I flew out of Sky Harbor was Jan, and the lines were no longer than the dozen other times I went through there in the last 2 years. Maybe 30 minutes.

I did happen to see all the luggage that was delayed recently by the breakdown of the screening equipment. It was all lined up in a lot next to the west cell phone lot. I wonder how it all held up after sitting in the 100 heat.

Skyharbor is a walk in the park compared to other major airports like SeaTac. However, I would get there at minimum 90 min prior to your flight regardless, just in case.

My wife just flew to Newark Friday morning on a 10am Southwest flight. She said the line was very short.

She's coming back tomorrow afternoon, I bet her experience at EWR isn't as pleasant.

My mom was notified by SWA to get to Atlanta 3 hours before her flight, which kind of confused her, because she was only going to be there for a 90 minute layover. I've seen some shouting matches between customers and TSA lowlifes at PHX, but the wait times haven't been horrible.

3 Saturdays ago I had a 10:30 flight. I got there at 9 am. I got to the gate about 2 minutes before they called B 31-60 on my Southwest flight. It was a nail-biter. Lines were super long at Southwest, and just as long at security.

I've seen much worse, but I'd say at least on Saturdays, get there at least 2 hours early.

Flew out of Sky Harbor in April and it was just as fast as anywhere else. No complaints.

Flew out of Sky Harbor (C gates, terminal 4) last Thursday afternoon. Line was fairly long, but it moved fast. I didn't get there quite as early as I like to, but it worked out okay.

When reporting on your luck (or lack thereof) at Sky Harbor it would be useful to know if you have TSA Pre-Check.
