When looking for good schools, it's always best to go private, and the higher cost is well worth it in most cases. Private education is far superior to even the best public schools, and I was a product of both kinds of schools in my youth, so I have the experience to compare the two. One of the better private schools is Rancho Solano, which has been in existence for many years, and has a stellar reputation.

You do realize the OP's work is next to the Deer Valley airport, not Sky Harbor, right?

My first inclination would be Chandler but after learning the OP will be working in Deer Valley, I think the Arrowhead area in Glendale might be a place to search for family-friendly neighborhoods with good schools.

Private school is for rich people, tuition can be thousands/year, not worth it for middle class family unless they want to live in a studio apartment rather than a house

Most of the families at our children's private school are middle class. It's a matter of priorities. Your children's education is always "worth it." I'd live in an apartment (maybe not a studio) if that's what it took to ensure that my children received a good education.

Some private schools are more affordable than others. Schools associated with churches often have lower tuition than independent schools.

In Phoenix, I'd say private elementary school tuition varies between about $5K to $20K a year per child. That is within the reach of a middle class family depending on their financial priorities.

Are you kidding? If you define a middle class family as say $90k/year household income, that is as much as 22% of your gross income just for one kid! It's for rich people

No, I'm not kidding. The numbers I referenced in my post were a range. $20K was the high end and most private schools are closer to the lower end of the range than the higher end. A parochial school will cost about $5K per child which is 6% of $90K.

That is still a lot of money, and consider that for 12 years of primary school if you had 2 kids, $5k/year would be $120,000! And that would eat up money that could have been used for college tuition, so I stand by my point, private school is for the wealthy
