Hardly. I'm not a SJW. I just don't appreciate corrupt PUBLIC systems that deal in quid pro quo arrangements.

But, as I said earlier, lots of people are OK with that. It is, after all, the way many schools have operated over time.

I just think the system should belong to everyone who pays taxes, not just the brown noses.

My prediction is that schools dealing in this kind of nonsense will choke and die as competition in the educational marketplace increases.

Elaborate what is the quid pro quo arrangement?

I've already outlined that pretty clearly. The school favors children that can boost their scores and parents who are connected/heavily invested in the school. Average or unknown kids receive fewer opportunities in the form of less desirable teachers/classroom placements and therefore outcomes. It's really not hard to see how that's a something for something arrangement that stacks decks.

Look around on this very same forum and you'll find similar statements about experiences where children who didn't put a feather in the district cap weren't given fair play.

She's just quoting your words, that we can all read, as you instructed. So what have you actually experienced, and what have you just heard through the grapevine or some other incredibly reliable source?

Assuming you are speaking from your own experience, it's with ONE child in ONE school. And, you aren't answering people's questions. Did your child have an IEP?

Out of curiosity, how did you approach with the school or district personnel what you perceived as an issue with your child? By ranting like you have here?

I already said that wasn't an issue for me but one I heard of as an issue from people I consider reliable. Also, one that's documented as an issue even within this same forum. And, not just with one child. I actually have a few children at different ages/stages as well as relatives...so I'm basing this off of the aggregate of those experiences. Although, the experience two of my kids had with this system have particularly raised my ire.

Is this unusual?

Regarding IEP, that is "grapevine" knowledge, but it is commentary that can be easily found on the web, also.

Regarding my own experience, I tried to raise the issue many times politely with the schools in question, before giving up and pursuing other options. This process took place for more than a year before I decided to call it a wash.

I'm not ranting, I'm stating my opinion of my experience and what I saw. Teacher placement and access to certain additional benefits belonged to those willing to game the system. That's really not right in my opinion. I don't care if it's a minority opinion.
