This whole winter has been pretty good. What a difference a little moisture and a few storms can make!

Yeah, we had a couple pretty good storms come in this year. I don't know the totals but I usually get pretty excited when I see southern Cali getting the rain because it often makes it over here. I think it helped a lot....as I recall back in December, the brown cloud was looking pretty bad, then we got some good steady rain and it cleared up. I remember saying to my wife, wow the sky actually is blue!

Default Want to know about phoenix metro area?

I have lived in Mesa. suburb of phoenix for 20 years. Almost every house has a pool and during the hot summer months which is generally pretty long people don't go out unless they have to or they spend all their time in the their pools. If they go out it generally is to go inside somewhere else.
If you have to park your car outside, it is so hot that you can't touch your steering wheel until you turn your air conditioning and wait for it to cool a bit. You should have a cloth steering wheel cover. I dread getting into the car after work. It is always 120-125 degrees during these months, how do I know? I have a thermostat in my car and believe me you don't forget what that feels like.
Many a times I remember it being 90 degree's on Thanksgiving day. We always ate Thanksgiving outside.
The pollution is very bad because you never hardly get a breeze to blow it out or rain to watch it out. The air can become very stagnate.
Also for anyone that doesn't know Valley Fever can be a real problem.
I had a little yorkie that died of this disease at 8 years of age. The vet misdiagnosed and then he was to far along when he finally figured out what it was. I also had two close acquaintences that had Valley Fever, one died(symptoms caused other problems within the body) and the other almost died but made a full recovery but it took awhile. The doctors misdiagnosed both of them at first, so you might want to check into this or ask your doctor if you are not familar with it or new to the area. Both these guys worked construction field.

Fact: growth and construction is essential to PHX's vitality, comprising about 30% of the economy. Pretty sad, but it's true. Those transplants you seem so resentful of, like it or not, are what keeps Phoenix's economy chugging along. Were PHX to stop growing or start contracting, things would get really ugly for a whole lot of people living there. Think about what the situation in Detroit is right now, and you'll get some idea. It's an unfortunate catch 22.

Agreed, and I am thankful that hating transplants is a pretty rare atittude in AZ. It's common in some other states, Colorado being a prime example.

Well..since you can't smoke anywhere indoors anymore....and everyone has to smoke outside....the smokers have caused the air to become too polluted.
