That kind of uncertainty always bothered me when I lived in Chandler, so I moved to Central Phoenix.

If I were in your position I would look at places between where your husband works and where you will be working, some of the best areas of the whole city are between Mesa and Downtown.

In your shoes I'd give a very serious look at East Phoenix, Central Tempe, Southern Tempe, Northern Chandler, and Central Scottsdale.
Thank you for that info. I think the only thing I noticed about those areas, and it may be just the searches I'm doing, but all of the homes seem to be older. I mean we aren't opposed to an old home by any means but a newer home is more our style. Maybe I'm just not looking in the right areas.

Just realize that newer homes here mean you'll likely have a much smaller lot, will certainly be in an HOA and the house will be fairly cookie-cutter. Just some things to consider.

The other thing is all the infill going on here is condos and apartments, so if you want a new single family home, you are going to have to go out to the fringes to get it; you want central location, it means getting an existing/used home if you want a sfdh, comes with the territory

Southern Tempe (look south of US60) and Northern Chandler have some newer properties.

If you do not have to leave SD, don't. Have you visited here before?

San Diego is becoming to expensive for our family. I don't want a mortgage where I am house poor and I don't want to rent a piece of crap for $2200 a month. We make good money and it doesn't seem to make a difference. We have been to the area twice. We will be back out again next month.
