Is it my imagination, or are hotels (such as Holiday Inn Express and similar chains) almost always full in this general area?

Every time I think I'm about ready to come and house hunt, it seems like there are few options.

Check out the Windmill Suites in Surprise they usually have openings. You can try Sun City too.

Also, check out the Holiday Inn Express or Comfort Suites in Peoria (near the Sports Complex). They are just down Bell road and are a great location for restaurants and shopping, etc.

I'm not sure when you are looking to come. But I just went on Travelocity.com and plugged in 10 different sets of dates in October and November and the chains came as open at around $80 average per night. I even plugged in 2 weeks straight from mid November 16th to the 30th which is over Thanksgiving. All of the hotels in Surprise were available.

Normally those Surprise hotels are only sold during peak tourism which coincides with spring training. Potentially you are plugging in too many days in a row and then they are not open. You might have to stay in two places. Or you are waiting till the last minute before you travel. Also, checkout spots like VRBO.com.
