Thank you to everyone who shared their personal experiences and other information regarding sound walls. All but one of the replies were very helpful to me. I have to say that I find it odd when people (see#9 above) respond with short snappy answers that are not helpful. When I or others ask a question here, we are looking for advice, information or personal experiences. If I asked the question in person, I would hope that the response would not be "go live someplace else." Sometimes, I think that people feel they can be rude on this forum just because they aren't face to face.

If you notice when someone is unnecessarily rude, you can look at there other posts and they are usually rude most of the time. They are most-likely socially inept, and don't know how to interact with people in real life either. They either have problems, or they are trying to start em. The saying is, "don't feed the trolls." Just put em on your ignore list. You can still see they posted, (and click to read it if you want to) but that way you won't waste time reading them when catching up on threads. I would get a few sentences in and realize I keep reading the same asinine, ignorant, and unhelpful posts that keep coming from the same few people. (not directing this at any individual in this thread).

That person's response was short, but to be honest I don't think it was "rude". I've been around these boards long enough to see waaay too many people post stuff like "I bought a house near an airport (or air force base or interstate highway or truck stop) and I didn't realize it was going to be so LOUD".

I would advise nearly the same thing that person did. If you're living near a highway or what is to become a highway and you are worried about highway noise, moving should be considered as an option. To deny otherwise and claim that someone's "rude" for suggesting that is unfair.
