The new 20 million dollar Harkins in Goodyear opened last night, boy it's nice.
16 screens, one of which (according to Mr. Harkins) is the largest screen in the west at 83 feet. The latest in laser projection and the absolute most advanced Dolby sound.
It has recliners,full bar etc...
Watched "The Accountant" in the big screen theater and it was an experience to say the least!

Good Job Harkins!

Did you notice if they were serving beer and wine? I noticed the Harkins by me has applied for a liquor permit, maybe in response the the nearby Alamo Draft house Cinema being built. just curious if they are changing their business model.

"During a tour of the new Estrella Falls 16 multiplex in the West Valley, Goodyear City Councilwoman Joanne Osborne asked Harkins and President Mike Bowers if the West Valley would ever get any indie films.'We've had independent movies play here,' Harkins said. 'No one saw them.' Harkins and Bowers stressed that if moviegoers want to see independent films, they should 'vote with their wallets.'"

In other words, expect a better experience but not necessarily more selection.

It has a full bar - beer, wine, cocktails. No idea what they charge for drinks but if a Coke goes for six bucks I can only imagine.

Mr. Harkins also said that they are to be surrounded by a "mega mall" and that Harkins was the "first to plant our flag here".

I hope it's successful. It is great seeing a movie on a massive screen.

With that said, these days I'd rather just stay at home, watch a movie on the 80" screen where I can drink/eat whatever I want without having to drive to/from and not have the potential of rude people talking/doing whatever around me while trying to enjoy the movie.

I only that I have a free popcorn, but I don't have to pay. Every time that I go out to watch the movies. We have Harkins Theatres 16 on Bell Rd & 32nd St.

Where is Harkins Goodyear? Is it the Estrella Falls one? It's funny that if you Google Harkins Goodyear, it shows another theater very close to the Estrella one. But, if you go to their website, there is nothing about a Harkins Goodyear. I did note that the Estrella theater only listed an extended snack bar, nothing about alcohol.
Just curious really.
Thanks
