A trick or treat schedule? Why would you need scheduled times? The young kids go out before dark, older kids out a little later. Teenagers out later than the rest. Isn't that the same everywhere?

Usually the city sets a time like 6:00-8:00.

No. usually the city does not. From my experience it was always fair game if they left a porch light on.

I've never heard of scheduled trick-or-treating either. The porch light rules.

The trick or treaters usually start about dusk and go until the adults with them tire out. Teens go on their own until lights out.

I think that parents who desire the structure of a formal schedule are probably already taking their children to the various "trunk or treat" events sponsored by churches and other organizations. We send our children out after twilight (usually around 6). They usually last an hour. We keep dispensing candy until we're out or until our own kids are ready for bed. Then we turn off the outside lights in front and close the shutters to signal that we're done for the evening. That seems to work fine as an informal approach in our non-HOA neighborhood.

I know some cities back east try to put some restrictions on the hours you can trick or treat, but that has never been done here. That's a squirrelly idea.
