Hi folks,

We'll be near the Guadalupe area for a few days at the start of March, any local favourites for Mexican/Latin food, southern BBQ, soul food, and nightlife? We won't have a car but will taxi if it's worth it thanks.

You'd be way better off renting a car.

Mexican (if you like hot spicy foods): Los Dos Molinos
Los Dos Molinos Phoenix – The Hottest Food in Phoenix | The Best and Hottest New Mexican Food!

Southern BBQ: Little Miss BBQ

Soul Food: Lolo's Chicken and Waffles or Mrs. Whites Golden Rule Cafe
Homemade Southern Soul Food Restaurant | Lo-Lo's Chicken & Waffles

What kind of nightlife are you looking for? Mill Ave in Tempe is more of the college crowd bar scene. Old Town Scottsdale is more of the trendy bottle service type of clubs. And downtown Phoenix has some nice breweries and laid back bars.

Avoid actual taxi cabs. Use Uber or Lyft while you're here.

Like Guadalupe Road or the town?

Only nightlife in the town of Guadalupe would be a trash can fire unless your into heroin, then you might have more options.

You'll be near Tempe which has the Sealife Aquarium and nightlife in the Mill district.

There are plenty of food choices especially Mexican, but you can find many other eating spots to suit whatever your appetite is.

Those places look great, thanks. Nightlife - in our late 30s, first trip without children (7 years), very much into anything where no kids are allowed and we can have some nice drinks prefer patios too.

Taxis too expensive or dodgy?

We're from rural northern Canada and have no access to restaurants let alone real Mexican so we're hoping to try something real. Doesn't have to be fancy.

Arizona Grand Resort is across the 1-10, and pretty much a world away, from Guadalupe. You aren't really close to much in that part of the Valley in terms of restaurants, nightlife, etc.

Taxis aren't dodgy here, but Uber or Lyft (I prefer Lyft, but YMMV) is a good option.

Arizona Grand is a nice resort. This is what I would do; take Uber or Lyft to downtown Tempe and walk around. From there you can take the light rail to Phoenix or Mesa. The only thing is unless you take a taxi you will not get to see Scottsdale, Chandler or Gilbert. Good luck and hope you enjoy your visit!

Aunt Chiladas is within walking distance to Arizona Grand, they have good mexican food and you wouldn't even need a Taxi.
