Hi! First time poster here. We are looking to buy our first house in north central Phoenix and are concerned about having a power pole inside the property. The particular neighborhood we like consists of houses mostly built in the 50's, so the power lines run above the ground as opposed to under. There would of course have to be an easement to allow the power company to access the pole. Has anyone heard if this is an issue? What are other possible downsides (or upsides)?

Any input is greatly appreciated!

The easement guarantees the owner of the pole, access to the pole and to the property a certain distance either side of the overhead route. It also guarantees access to other utilities, like cable, telco, etc., who pay the owner for attachment rights. Should the owner of the pole and and the ROW (right of way), choose at a later date to bury the service, you could expect the ROW to be disturbed by heavy equipment, and returned as much as possible to the original condition.

Relative has triple deep back yard. With a pool and tennis court the area must be secure. Not smiled upon, utility is aware where they will find the somewhat hidden, out-of-sight key. Padlocks had to be installed which downgrade the original build of the two, side of house, gates.
Re-route of the electrical wire had a hanging over the playing section of the court. When there is no activity birds like to
stand on it. This contamination, unsightly as a health matter, was addressed and the new location stood. Polite complaining did not find a satisfactory solution.
Consider this when house hunting. Something inconvenient could, in the future, get worse.

A friend of mine owns a 1954 home on N. 32nd. St. in the Pomello Park area. There is a pole in that back yard right next to a swimming pool. I love the old house with flood irrigation and huge pine trees and a real red clay tile roof. The SRP pole would be a deal breaker for me.
