Ready? The gov't says 222 people a day relocate to Maricopa County, beating out Harris County in Texas (Houston area).

Looks like the rush is back on! I'm not sure about you, but that's not really good news if you look at the big picture. People will get priced out, traffic and crime will rise, job competition will get tougher, etc.

Are we the next Denver?

Debate.

Well, driving around the valley you see an insane amount of building going on. I am not really surprised by the new figures. Long term? I suppose it will depend on how the growth is managed.

Water concerns is another issue. If we have another massive drought I bet they cut water to agriculture.

The next Denver? Has there been more then a few years over the last 3 decades that the Denver MSA has outpaced Phoenix? If anything I'd say these numbers are still kind of disappointing compared to where we used to be at over 100K a year in the early 2000's.

We should get smarter about water use here regardless of suffering through another drought out not.

I can tell you this: after 25+ years of living in the Valley, we moved in May 2012. We've been back every year for 10-12 days during Feb March or April. This year the traffic is noticeably WORSE.

Agree with the traffic noticeably worse this year but overall we manage the influx of more people very well IMO. Plus more people = bigger tax base to pay for ballooning public safety pensions. Let them come.
