YES! I'm in NM, and I got mine tinted. It really does keep the car a little cooler, and it protects the left side of your face (by the driver's seat window) from sun damage.

I have a good place that has done both my cars in the West Valley. Let me know if you'd like their number.

And pay the extra money for ceramic tint. It rejects quite a bit more heat than standard tinting and it much less likely to fade or bubble. We "tinted" the windshield with a clear film that rejects about 40% of the heat without being noticeable. Saves the dash from hopefully cracking and fading.

Interesting, I had no idea! Will definitely be looking into this! How much would you say it is for front two windows and windshield on an SUV?

The window tinting is really necessary here. I don't know what the price is, our new cars came each time with the windows already tinted. Same when we were living in Houston.

I don't think most people do the windshield. The clear films are a fairly new development and dark ones are illegal. Also, you will very likely get a busted window every year or so here and your insurance often won't pay for a retint.

Why will you get a busted window every year?

There is construction everywhere. Gravel from all the construction vehicles falls on the freeways and highways, bounces along, or gets kicked up from cars and busts your windshield. Also, so many rock "lawns" that spill onto driveways, etc, that cars get gravel in tire treads and throw it. No deductible glass coverage is required by law on comprehensive though.

Yes, it's wonderful as long as it's done CORRECTLY. Don't go cheap but know when you are being overcharged. I payed about 150 for all my windows on my honda accord mid size sedan. It is kind of like a pool guy or landscaper, they are EVERYWHERE but once you find a good one, stick with them and recommended them. Go as dark as legally possible in the back but the front windows have lighter limits so make sure the guys who are doing it know the law!!
