Typically, when we go to a ball game, we eat ballpark food. However, this Saturday we're taking out of town guests to the game and they want to eat someplace before the game. I'd appreciate opinions on good options. Thanks.

What kind of food? If you want actual dinner, a lot of people like The Arrogant Butcher or the Blue Hound. If you want simpler sandwich stuff, there's Tommy Pastrami and other options around Collier Center.

I work downtown and enjoy Grabba Green, Tommy Pastrami, Willie's Taco Shop. There are great pizza places downtown.

Some good recommendations above.

A few additional options:

Pizzeria Bianco
Nobuo at Teeter House
District
Mancuso's
Squid Ink Sushi

I'm sure the OP is trying to impress his out of town guests with some great food instead of some random sandwich shops lol Are you looking for something that's walkable from the ballpark? If so, some great bar food options include Willie's, Coach's, and Cooperstown. The Deuce is a cool spot to hang-out and eat prior. You have all the great options at Cityscape and like observer said, The Arrogant Butcher or Blue Hound are good. Tilted Kilt is another. You can't go wrong with Bianco's Pizza and of course, Cornish Pasty is pretty awesome (but too hot to be walking).

I have no idea what he's looking for, which is why I asked. Cooperstown is fun, I had forgotten that one. And closer than CityScape. Coach's Corner is certainly close, but feels crowded and noisy on game days, Where's Willie's? (Coach and Willy's is no more).

I thought of Cornish Pasty too, but that is too far to walk, certainly these days. Hanny's might be fun, there's lots of shade to walk in from there to the ballpark. Pizzeria Blanco has a national reputation, if impressing out of town guests is a goal.

Willie's Taco Joint took over the space right next to Coach's (same owners). Homage to the old Coach & Willie's in downtown. Also, how could I forget Hanny's. love that place too but I prefer the vibe over dinner than lunch.

Mancuso's is a great suggestion. Had dinner there earlier this year before a Suns game and it was very good. Plus it is only about 2 blocks away which will probably be appreciated by your out of town guests that may not want to walk very far in the heat.

As suggested above, Arrogant Butcher is quite good. Copper Blues is also good, but can get crowded.
