Hello-we are retirees moving from midwest to Trilogy at Vistancia in Peoria Arizona. We are considering using a 'PODS' type mover-one that we pack here and belongings are shipped down to AZ, but we need help with the unload. Does anyone have a recommendation as to people that could help us unload the container? Thanks, in advance!

Welcome to Arizona, Bkypjy . . .

No personal experience with PODS, however, I would bet the local PODS Agents would either offer an unpacking service or at least some type of a recommendation / referral service.

Good Luck.

I did this years ago in another city and just called a local temp employment agency. The people they hire tend to only show up when they feel like it, so you are best off to hire at least 3 or 4 guys. That way, you will hopefully have at least 2 show up!

I think there are also some charities (and maybe churches?) that have volunteers who will help provided you give a donation to the organization. I am not familiar with any in particular, but you could maybe call around. Maybe someone else will chime in here with a specific recommendation.

Forgot about that, but you are right Bummer.... Most of the PODS locations will have people you can hire for moving assistance. Good point.

Also, I personally recommend PODS. I had a great experience with them when I moved from Iowa to AZ.

I used "Common Cents Moving" - found on movinghelp.com https://movinghelp.com/

That site is linked from U-Haul's site (but they are not affiliated)... I researched the companies listed on movinghelp and went with "Common Cents Moving" was very satisfied...

I'm going to look 'em up when my Mom moves here from IA...

Good luck bkypjy and welcome to AZ

I recently used uhaul to help my daughter move into her new house. I actually used 2 different dealers, one here where I live and one in Tucson. Both had links to local moving crews you could hire. Also, a search of Craigslist under services/labor/move brought up lots of offers. I typed 'unload' in the search box.

HTH

The Arizona Firefighter's Moving Company was great handling a small move in Surprise.

I used the website "TofixIt" which is now "MyGuys.Com" to get unloaders on my first move and then used the Uhaul suggested company when I rented my truck.

Both used moving company trained and employed people who happened to have that day free to do side work and both were great.
