Having lived here in the W/V for over 7 years now I don't remember the humidity lasting this long or this high in a constant stream without at least a few days break.
Is this a weird year or were the last 7 abnormal?

Just wondering is all...

Not really. We do see spells like this. There must be some statistics somewhere.

Dewpoints over 70 especially this long are not that common. The NWS was saying moisture levels were near records last week and have been 2 or more standard deviations above normal routinely. But take heart, the first break is coming next week and moisture levels are going down well BELOW normal.

Another thing I noted is it seems the storms this year have been really violent especially for the west side. Those huge trees tossed on that apartment building! My boat got trashed in its slip it has been in for years without incident. There were 250 trees knocked down in Estrella in a single storm. That sort of thing is more common over in AJ.

I agree that it has been longer in duration this year - sort of makes sense after the record breaking hot.

It DOES look like we start to get a break this weekend though.....but lots left this afternoon - coming in from the WEST - a little less common.

Despite not receiving a lot of rain at Sky Harbor it has been a pretty intense monsoon, Tucson had it's second wettest month ever. So yeah, it's probably a bit abnormal but it can be humid this time of year and it looks like we're setting up for a dry patter tomorrow.

It's been absolutely miserable with these sub tropical dew points I can't wait until it drys out. The only upside is we got blast hard today Hardy was a raging river and our tree took a big hit.

"But its a dry heat!"

No. No its not. Maybe in May and June, but the rest of summer is sticky nonsense.

On a side note, anyone else get smashed with those high winds last night? Holy funk, Batman! Lots of downed power lines all over the place. They even shut down Shea near the 51 due to several fallen over into the street.

I was there for five days about a week ago. Could barely feel any humidity. Maybe it just wasn't humid during that span.

The dew point last Monday reached 80 degrees in Buckeye and 76 at Sky Harbor. I don't think this thread is about people who live here complaining about humidity that would be standard elsewhere. It was more humid here than Miami and Houston, which is pretty extreme.
