Hi all,

I lost my job the end of last year and after 4 months of draining my savings, I moved out, prior to paying November's rent, turning in the keys to the owner of the condo, not the property management company. The owner actually helped me move and let me use his garage to store a few items until I was able to get storage. Fast forward this year, I applied for an apartment and was rejected. The reason was a judgment. I didn't know a judgment was even placed against me. I called the courts and was told that their records showed that I was served (I wasn't) and that a judgment in the amount of $1900 (2 months rent +fees) was entered against me in December. I contacted the attorney listed on the judgment and was told I needed to contact the property management company. When I contacted the property management company and told them I was ready to pay the judgment as well as receive a satisfaction notice once paid, the property management co told me they first needed to speak to the landlord and that they would get back to me. It has been 3 weeks and I have not heard anything back from them. I have no way to contact the owner of the condo directly. I call and leave voicemails requesting followup from the property management co as well as emails and no response. I am not sure what else to do at this point.

Sorry this was so long winded.

Are you in Phoenix or where? Call the Attorney General's office and ask for help. They have a special unit set up for these kinds of p roblems.
