Ive rented from all 3 and didn't have a good experience with ANY of them. One surprising company that I did have a good experience was called Idealease. I'm not sure if they're still around or not, but if they are I would recommend them. The truck was spotless and new, the customer service was awesome, and their prices were reasonable, if not a bit higher than what I paid at Penske, etc. Plus, it was a diesel, which was awesome. All the others I usually get stuck in gas trucks which just don't have adequate torque required for larger/heavier moves.

Who's going to load and unload? Have you included that cost and hassle factor in your calculations?

Uhaul sucks. Penske broke down on us in the middle of Montana (Billings) and it was a nightmare. As in we had to figure out the towing and everything else on our own because Montana has no Penske dealers. They did reimburse us and plus some but that was awful. I still think it's because we got the truck from some little offshoot Penske dealer but that's only because Penske calls us the morning of our cross country move and says "we ran out of trucks, sorry!" So we had to go to that little place in the middle of nowhere to get our truck. We've used Penske the most for our 4 or 5 cross country moves but the latest was a budget truck and that was fine!

The biggest thing is calling the night before and ensuring you'll have a truck for your move.
