Saguaro > Joshua trees

BTW how is this fashion related??

I'd rather be part of a new growing scene than a large, old, tough to make a dent scene

Sad but true, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve overheard visitors call the region a wasteland, little do they know how foolish it makes them look and how unwilling I then become for sharing any of our best kept secrets. My typical response, “you’re right, probably best to return to wherever you’re from.”

Maybe I'm getting mixed up...I mean more of the coastal desert around coastal Socal. Which by definition is a desert.

As for the fashion industry...yes...emerging markets are the best way to get your foot in the door! I'm 31 now but man, I wish ASU had their fashion program when I was in college. Would've saved me from the well known for-Profit FIDM in CA. It was incredibly expensive and I'm still dealing with that. College kids now have so many more choices.

Ive gotten into some pretty heated discussions before regarding that. Ugh, it frustrates me to no end hearing them call it a "wasteland". The whole debate started when I caught them throwing rocks at a rattlesnake off the trail.

I will add my 2 cents to this thread. Wearing flip flops (sandals excluded) while not at the beach or poolside is NOT fashionable. Same thing with wearing socks and sandals and tucking in your t-shirt. Flip flops have no foot support and are bad for your back long term.

The trail advocacy group I volunteer with spends countless hours picking up trash all over the preserves, such a sad state to see idiots trashing our open space. Sadly even when I lived in the northeast we still had the same problems but I do think it’s exaggerated here which could be because our trails are more traffic but I can’t help but believe newcomers have no idea what they’re walking through. Keep on fighting man.

I thought about volunteering to clean up trails, but I would just end up getting mad and belligerent towards people.

Nothing peeves me more than trash along a trail. Well, besides people playing their music without headphones while hiking, that is.
