I was sprucing up the front porch and decided to add a mellow tone wind chime. Normally in my lifetime here I would go straight to Jutenhoops at Town and Country or to the gift shop at Baker Nursery at 40th. St. and Osborn. My only hope is to try Berridge Nursery at 44t. St. and Camelback. I'd like to actually touch the chime to hear what it will sound like. Does anyone know of any gift shops that have a selection?

If you wait a few weeks, I bet you will find something interesting at the Tempe Festival of the Arts in downtown Tempe, December 1-3. Artist Listing - Tempe Festival of the Arts They don't have a wind chime category on this webpage, but I have pretty much always seen some there, bought one years ago.

You're giving me some ideas, Observer. Maybe the festivals in Fountain Hills would be worth looking at. Some of the little Scottsdale Fifth Avenue shops might carry such things. I like to give nice one of a kind things as gifts. I have little Soleri wind bells and could maybe make to trip to Cosanti.

The Scottsdale places will likely have a good number of kitschy touristy ones, but may have some nice ones, too. The weather is nice, go walk around downtown this weekend. Fountain Hills is a good idea, too.

Although I've never been a fan of Soleri's architecture, I do have a set of Cosanti wind chimes that I like. They're rugged yet still have a pleasing sound. The website emphasizes online sales, but you can shop in person and actually see the foundry where they're made.

The local arts festivals are also a good idea.
