OP, I've lived here well over 50 years and have never had a scorpion in any of my homes. I've lived in new construction, near a greenbelt (LOTS of water), and also near a golf course.

If you're that freaked out about it get a couple of black light UV flashlights and get a pest control service to proactively treat... or you could save money and just sprinkle some diatomaceous earth outside around the foundation of your home.

When I lived in Chandler, a year ago, I had scorps all the time. I sprayed around the house with Cykick 5 times a year. One of them bit me on the upper thigh and was I ever in pain. But I lived.

I started the 2018 tread on Scorpions because I was curious of recent bites / stings since 2008.. have they migrated to a certain area more than others etc. There was a study done like 20 years ago that has a map of where they were more prominent. So i was thinking that maybe a more recent thread might bring recent stories.. If that makes since.

I notice people get really sensitive to messages on here LOL I was only seeking to understand. Sorry that the 2018 might have offended you...
I've had the same amount of bites in 2018 as I've had every year of my life which is zero. Don't live on the edge of the with desert back drop. In a new development that was and orange orchard or built from desert in the last 5 years and you should be golden.

The scorpion hysteria by transplants is extremely overblown!

Scorpions don't bite they sting I can say this because I remember looking down and seeing it hang from it's stinger while it was stuck in my ankle up to the base of the tail entire stinger under my skin.

No one in the family has been stung in a couple years now, which is some kind of record. In fact, we haven't seen any in the house either. I guess we are getting "built up". I do see a big, fat one in the garage now and then. In fact, I had a flat tire in the garage this summer that I think was the work of a large scorpion.

If I remember correctly, Discount tire carries scorpion-resistant tires, especially during the summer.

I would hope not. That would be disturbing, and rather weird looking.

OP, scorpions are part of life here, that's just the facts. Some places have no problems, others are nightmarish. If you're that freaked out about them, I would really recommend looking elsewhere to live because sooner or later the chances of you seeing them are very, very high. And keep the green grass for NC, we are staring a water crisis right in the face here. Don't be part of the problem.
