I'm looking for a solid wood desk. I had a nice one back east. Has anyone bought good quality wood furniture here, and if so what are some of the better quality stores.

I like Whittier Wood products made from solid alderwood in Oregon. In the Phoenix metro, you can get it at Thomasville stores.

Here's a sampling of their home office products:

Some of the best places to shop for great furniture are the consignment stores in Scottsdale around the airpark. Avery Lane, Lost and Found, Airpark consignments, Stevan's are all good choices. High end furniture at reasonable prices - if you can live with not new. Most of these places are fairly conservative in what they will accept for consignment, so most of it is very good quality.

If your budget allows, Stickley makes great wood furniture. Thomasville stores carry some of their items.
