With great sadness, we read about the fire that destroyed the Mining Camp restaurant. We enjoyed driving the Apache Trail and stopping for lunch, especially with visitors.

Is there anyplace else that might suffice?

Tortilla Flats where the pavement ends at Canyon Lake. Further on if you want to give them some eye candy and a thrill is the restaurant at Apache Lake marina.

We used to go to the restaurant at Saguro Lake quite frequently. Scenery is nice once you get there, but not so much in the esy.

Dirt roads to the marina, isn't it? Rental car makes that kinda questionable. But Tortilla Flat might work. Thanks.

Its washboard. Rental car is perfect to prevent dash rattles. I've seen Hyundai's do that road with ease.

Yeah it's not a bad road, just those washboard sections and Fish Creek Hill which looks worse than it is. But really, that road is must see/do for anyone in the Phoenix area. If you catch it right after a monsoon, there are waterfalls cascading hundreds of feet into Fish Creek. Really something to see

Mammoth Steakhouse in the Goldfield Ghost Town... almost right across the street from where you turned off 88 to go to Mining Camp.
Haven't tried it, but Well Done Grill at Canyon Lake Marina.
As mentioned, restaurant in Tortilla Flat. Seems like that place closes pretty early, though, so check on it before you make the drive, if that's the only reason you're going.

The road to Tortilla Flat is very nice, as they just finished construction earlier this year. First time in years we've taken a motorcycle up there and actually enjoyed the ride!
