We're building a catio (fencing-enclosed cat patio) for our special needs semi-feral cat, so she can go in and out of the house. We plan on having the sitter put her food outside a couple of times a day for a few days while we're out of town. She can't eat dry food because she has stomatitis (a serious gum problem.) I've been trying to figure out how I can keep her moist food dish cold for more time outside if she's in the house when it's feeding time. Any suggestions?

I've seen some chilled water bowls (dog-sized, unfortunately) with gel as a coolant, but not only would they be too large, but also they wouldn't do well in our heat. The bowl would be in shade, under a tree. Any suggestions?

The heat and dry air will wipe out the food in a matter of two hours. Unless someone is smarter than me then there is no way to keep it cool, soft and fresh. The freezing sounds good but until it thaws the cat won't eat it and then "maybe the cat will eat it........you know cats".
