They spent significantly more building that campus in Tempe (if you didn’t know, they spent 700million building it without borrowing any money and then sold it for a 230million profit).

What company has 20mil to blow each year that people have not heard of and where advertising makes sense? Almost every stadium sponsorship is by a company that everybody knows about. I would like to see a local company take it, but I doubt Best Western, Discount Tire, Circle K, Petsmart etc are jumping at the bit.

Frankly, I’m glad it’s no longer a known for profit diploma mill advertising the stadium.
The last line is the same as I was thinking.

Glad they got rid of the University of Phoenix Stadium name though, always sounded like they were playing in a college football stadium.
Better than:

Allstate Stadium
Cox Stadium
Walmart Stadium

State Farm operations in Arizona keep growing and growing. I would not be shocked to see them announce a move of their HQ to Arizona some years down the road. But if it had to be an insurer Progressive Stadium would have suited (not) the area so much better.

I didn't mind University of Phoenix being attached to the venue because it at least gave Phoenix some identity in a place that names practically everything Arizona this and Arizona that!

With a guaranteed super bowl, it's a good value. Glad to see large companies making investments and lying down roots here.
Exactly! If the tribes choose to give repulsively stupid names to their casinos (Talking Stick), that's their business, but giving a pro sports arena that idiotic name is beyond comprehension. It's actually kind of embarrassing to say that the Suns play at Talking Stick Arena. I liked the sound of America West Arena and U.S. Airways Center much better!

I recall it being referred to as "Slave Farm," lol. UOP was a bad idea, period.
