That’s a good idea kind of like Orbit connecting Tempe to ASU/Mill. P83 has actually come a long way in the last few years. While it’s still full of chains, it’s got some density in spots and good areas to crawl.

It's a good idea to help reduce traffic in the area. But since it only will run until 6 pm it won't do a lot for people going to the restaurants and drinking. It would be better if it ran until 9 or 10 pm.

I saw this yesterday, and was pretty excited to see it..Free bus service is always a good thing!
I'll park my car in the luxury mall /shopping comples being built on 83rd Ave/Happy Valley road, and, jump on the bus to go down to the P83 area..lots of nice places down there, and it will be nice to not have to drive there..
The snowbird traffic is horrible in that area until Early April, so less cars would be a great thing!

That's exactly what I was thinking. It'll be great for retirees. But for people that have to work, this won't be of much use.

Correction. What you call "snowbird traffic" really == Actual snowbird traffic (minor) + Tourist (Major: Spring Training, Spring Break, NASCAR, Waste Management, Barrett Jackson and other Phoenix area events) + Phoenicians that come out to play.

It's the same thing in reverse in the Midwest winters. Just like here in the summers, not a lot of Midwesterner's/locals want to come out and freeze, so the traffic is light. Also tourists don't bother coming to the Midwest in February.

The best study was a while back where they calculated 300,000 snowbirds.
Ferom https://www.azcentral.com/story/news...pact/22034575/ "The last study, conducted after the 2003-04 visitor season, estimated the state's seasonal population swelled by about 300,000 long-term visitors..." I propose many snowbirds are in their masterplanned communities playing pickleball 24-7. lol

I think we can agree that 300,000 (let's round it up to 500,000) out of 4.5M won't clog the roads and restaurants. Obviously spots like where I live in Surprise (tons of retirees in comparison to other parts of the Valley) will be more impacted. In the older areas like Sun City, they have far less "snowbirds" and simply year round geezers. Most of those folks are tucked in bed by 5:30 pm. We will all get there one day. lol

good point, I guess when you combine YOU snowbirds,() with the Spring training crowd, with the short term visitors, you can have a traffic nightmare..
I'm thinking the 83rd avenue/bell road area is one of the worst this time of year; and, that intersection has 7 lanes IN EACH DIRECTION, and its still not enough alot of times in the winter/spring..

I here you. I cringe when I have to go in that area. My wife wants to buy a home on water in the Arrowhead Lakes area. But that traffic!

we live about 5 minutes north of Arrowhead, and, honestly, aside from rush hour and xmas time, 67th avenue traffic isnt bad at all...it takes me about 10 minutes to get from my front door on jomax and 67th, to the 101 on 67th av, and thats driving through Arrowhead..
that area you are talking about, on the water in Arrowhead is fantastic, I agree...great house, great shopping, on a lake, in the Phoenix metro area...what else could you ask for?
