Hi all. We bought this house in October and moved here last summer. So my last water bill was $15. Obviously it's rained a lot the last month and I haven't really even had the irrigation system on at all. I'm trying to get a feel for our summer water bill. We are on almost 0.3 acres with mostly desert landscape, but we do have a small amount of grass and a relatively small pool.

Water is cheaper in AZ than you think. That said, I live in Yuma which abuts the COlorado River, so perhaps that's why our water is cheap. I've had a pool at 2 houses and didn't notice a significant increase in water cost. The pools were set up to auto fill from the city water. The pools were pretty good size (for AZ).

Water might be the least expensive thing about owning a pool...

To the first order pools are about the same as grass. And a covered pool is well less than grass. Basically both use about 7 feet of water per square foot of area per year.

So don't sweat it. If you wish to conserve cover the pool. But it is not a huge deal.

I'm more wondering what the increase in overall water will be over the summer? Like by what percentage does your bill increase typically?

Depending on which City it could be zero. Goodyear bills for first 3 months and then averages that for the year.

My highest consumption charge for water use last year was $28.30 (August). My lowest was $18.77 (January). I'm in Phoenix and have a pool in an area of town with a lot of vegetation and irrigation.

When you tack on all the fees, taxes, sewer, trash and other stuff they put in the water bill my bills hover between $70-$95/month.

The real expense of having a pool is literally everything else.

Fascinating that water is so cheap here, when in the 'Bay' area, with all it's water sources, is SO expensive.
My peak monthly water bills, with a major step down in irrigation usage (for lawn), was like $350-400.
No pool, no water features, just drip for plants and sprinkler heads for lawn.
