But here in the Phoenix metro in the 5 years I've been here, I've seen premium be 50-60 cents higher than regular at probably 70-80% of stations. For the past couple of weeks, it's been damn near a dollar. I've filled up a few times over the last few weeks and while regular has been around 2.75-2.80, premium (which my car needs) has been 3.50 - 3.60. Medium is somewhere in between. What in the holy hell? I've never gotten an explanation for this (at all, let alone one that wasn't pulled out of a behind).
Have you tried asking the people in the industry instead of an internet relocation forum?

There was a spike in prices here in Colorado, as well. So I don't think it's anything Arizona-specific.

Assuming 2018 and 2019 are related (this article was written 3/30/2018). Pain at the pump: Gas prices on the rise in Arizona - Story | KSAZ

"The reason why prices are higher right now have to do with refinery maintenance, which takes place every spring, and then, you have higher than usual demand for this time of the year, and then, you have higher crude prices compared to this time of year,..."

Add to that Trump's sanctions against both Iran and Venezuela that have taken millions of barrels off the market and empowered OPEC. We did not have that last year. Prices could go well north of $3.00 before they come back to earth.

Its the whole country I imagine seeing gas hikes. Here in Central Fla, it was $2.48 Monday. The next day its $2.75 and $2.80 using a credit card.

My curiosity got me when I saw this post in the lead.

Here in northeast Florida we were at $2.32 about five weeks ago then jumped to $2.53 and then on Monday we saw $2.75. By Tuesday afternoon all the stations were at $2.75.

I also saw where they attributed the rise to seasonal changes in the blends.

My plan, eventually. But it's probably 5 years out, with the way things are for me. I looked around, and it seems the cost to charge is about 1/3 as much as the cost of gas for equivalent vehicle power / specs. Setting aside how much gas and oil a car uses on a daily basis, and how much pollution it generates, over a lifespan of 30-40 years, environmentally.
