OP, you meant to say "holes", not "wholes"--that's why you were being ribbed in a friendly way.

Anyway, I can relate to your problem. My house (build in '92) has several areas where the stucco is deteriorating and sloughing off. Very maddening!!! In my case, i think the problem is PARTLY due to my getting the stucco wet with my gardening hose. But if stucco siding is this fragile to water, something's wrong IMO. In any case, I'll have to hire a stucco expert to repair it because I want the texture to match perfectly with the rest of the wall.

And BTW, why aren't other siding materials used that often in metro Phoenix? Specifically I'm thinking of cement fiber board (like Hardie Board siding). I really like the traditional craftsman look and it's ultra durable!! Stucco, stucco stucco can become very boring after a while

Caveat: I haven't looked at new home communities in metro Phoenix lately, so maybe they are adding some variation besides stucco exterior finishes like Hardie Board siding.

Seems to be a typo, except that it was written that way twice. ESL perhaps. He obviously meant “hole”.

ESL is correct. It's why I didn't pile on. The Op grew up in Germany.
