With the high number of retirees in Arizona, and the Phoenix area, I'm wondering if any of you have had improvement in your arthritis. I realize that it doesn't "go away" in a warm, dry climate, but I have read that symptoms of arthritis improve in warmer, drier places. Anyone have experience with this, or a family member?

both my wife and I have noticed much less joint pain since leaving the damp, fridgid northern Illinois area and moved out here.

several arthritic friends who moved out here from the midwest say the same thing, so improvements are very possible for you, if coming from cold/damp/humid area..

I definitely don't feel as much arthritic pain moving to the desert from a damp & cold climate in NY. I notice it right away when I go back to visit.

I've always had less arthritic joint pain in the hot temperatures, it's a big relief.

I can't say the pain has gone away, but I have been able to stop taking ibuprofen for it. Whether that's the dry hot climate or a structural change in my bad knee, I can't tell. The pain has always been variable.

Many people make snap correlations based on scant evidence. I try to avoid that.

Your joints will feel better, and don't underestimate the benefits of simply dog paddling or treading water in a pool..you can't beat it for very low impact exercise.

I was wondering the same thing. My wife and I both are only in out mid 40's but we do have joint pains. Living in the midwest I think we would do well back in Arizona. But barometric pressure plays a part in joint pain as well.. I think?

For me personally, absolutely yes. I don't have bad arthritis but sure noticed it when I lived way up north for a few years. Within three weeks of moving back home to AZ I was doing great and still am. There IS something good to be said about our climate here.

HUGE improvement for me. However, as I am getting older, the pain is getting worse. I can only imagine how horrible it would be if I had stayed in the "winterlands"!
