Well, I don't know if he's a genius or not, but his species is definitely "Lizard".

Looks like a common Blue Belly lizard that's had lots of sun. Google will give you the genus/species. Looks like it's in the middle of shedding it's skin too.

Thank you for the last two serious answers. Now I can do a little research.

But I think it is a blue belly (Western Fence Lizard).

No. One of the reasons I had trouble identifying him is that he is very skittish. I know exactly where he lives, but see him only two or three times a week, and if I simply tap on the window from about 20 feet away, he disappears. I've never been able to get at all close.
