Sucks like most fishing in Arizona. Too hot in summer and the water is cold in winter so they don't bite. Some people who really work it get to know the lakes and the tricks and do OK. Casual folks, no. Bartlett is a congested drive through suburban Scottsdale. No trout. Bass. Saguaro is much easier to get to and they do stock that for trout in winter and the Salt River below Saguaro for trout in summer.

Shoreline is rocky cliffs but there are many areas where washes flow in so depending on water depth there are beach areas. Horseshoe is a mud hole mostly with decent water only in spring and then only in some years. Both lakes have boating with no restrictions. Barlett has a full service marina. There are a lot of crazy boaters at Bartlett with cigarette boats etc that are too big for the water. Weekdays are OK, though.
