I saw on ADOT's Facebook page (and a couple other Facebook pages) that the Loop 202 has a tentative opening date set. Sat, Dec 21 there will be a freeway opening celebration on a section in the Laveen area. It should be open to traffic on Mon, Dec 23 or Tue, Dec 24.

Wow, a brand new, eight-lane, 22-mile freeway, including one massive bridge, 15 interchanges all completed in 4 years, that's pretty impressive!

So it looks like from ADOT's Loop 202 website, "late 2019 opening" means the mainline freeway will be open to traffic, but certain interchanges, frontage roads, and cross streets won't be fully complete until 2020. For anyone in the Ahwatukee area, next weekend a full weekend closure is planned for the Pecos section, and the freeway section from 17th Ave to 40th St will be open by Mon, Nov 18.

I’m really interested to see how may transform housing/commuting patterns and industrial location in the coming years. Do you have any predictions?

Laveen is predicted to have a lot more growth. Expect a lot more upcoming development from 67th Ave to maybe 51st Ave, and south of Broadway, all the way to the reservation boundary.

It's definitely going to have an impact on near Southwest Valley development, especially Avondale/Goodyear/Laveen. Expect housing prices to shoot up there. Suddenly it's a convenient and viable option for people to live over there who work in Chandler/Gilbert/S Tempe/Ahwatukee where there are higher paying jobs than what's over there now.
