Funny, there are Apple and Microsoft stores in Fashion Square mall, and Apple is always crowded while Microsoft is always empty.

Okay, Apple is a trendier brand. And I don't know which came first. But I have a funny vision of Apple opening its grand Scottsdale Road location, and Microsoft thinking, Hm, we should open there too - but not realizing that being tucked away upstairs in the mail isn't the same thing as a grand storefront.

The Microsoft store has been at SFS for several years. Apple moved in just last year after relocating from Biltmore Fashion Park. I agree that Apple has the more visible location, but Microsoft was at that mall first.

Thanks. Apple obviously invested more, and is getting better results.

Apple sells more "products", whereas Microsoft is more application/software oriented. Yes, MS has some products but not to the degree that Apple does. Hence, more business at Apple makes sense. To me, anyway.

Microsoft still doesn’t understand how to sell to consumers the way Apple (or other consumer goods companies) do.

No matter where you go . . . Coast to Coast or Border to Border, Apple Stores are always mega-busy.

Long before iPhone and iPad . . . I have been an Apple Computer Nutcase my entire adult life and have never experienced an empty Apple Store regardless of the hour or the day of the week.

Good Luck.

That’s interesting because in more technologically savvy cities Microsoft is swamped.

What is that supposed to mean? You think people here are still on dial up internet and using flip phones?

No, just no.

I've been to the Microsoft store in both Seattle and Bellevue. I was surprised by how busy the one in Scottsdale Fashion Square was compared to those.
